Anticancer effects have been seen only in the lab; Memorial Sloan Kettering says human studies haven't been done. In lab experiments it strengthened blood-pressure drugs and lowered blood sugar, effects whose importance in people isn't known.
What to do
Not shown to help with cancer. Avoid it if you take blood-pressure or diabetes medicines. Extra virgin olive oil is rated separately in the food finder.
