What the evidence shows
Lab and animal studies suggest guggulsterone may slow tumors; no human cancer trials have been done. In lab studies it switched on estrogen and progesterone receptors.
What to do
Not a cancer treatment. Ask your care team first: it may make some medicines less effective, and its hormone effects are a concern with hormone-sensitive cancers. Liver injury has been reported.
