Whole grains and fiber-rich foods
Probably lower colorectal cancer risk.
What studies found
The World Cancer Research Fund rates evidence that whole grains and dietary fiber lower colorectal cancer risk as probable, its second-strongest grade. Colon cancer risk was about 18% lower with the highest whole-grain intake.
The catch
Based on large cohort studies rather than randomized trials.
What to do
Choose whole-grain bread, oats and brown rice, and eat beans and lentils often.
