Eat a plant-forward pattern
Recommended by cancer bodies; linked to slower prostate cancer progression.
What studies found
Vegetables and fruit together probably lower risk of mouth, throat and esophageal cancers. In 2,062 men with non-metastatic prostate cancer, those eating the most plant foods had 47% lower risk of progression than those eating the least.
The catch
Observational: plant eaters may differ in other ways. In the MEAL trial, simply adding vegetables did not slow early prostate cancer over two years.
What to do
Make half your plate vegetables and fruit, and choose whole foods over supplements. See the Diet section.
