Fasting-mimicking diet around chemotherapy
Didn't reduce side effects; better tumor response only in those who stuck to it.
What studies found
In the DIRECT trial (131 women, early HER2-negative breast cancer), a four-day low-calorie diet around chemotherapy did not lower severe side effects. Strong tumor responses were more likely among those who followed it.
The catch
The adherence-based finding needs confirmation. Unsafe for underweight or malnourished patients.
What to do
Only under your oncologist's supervision.
