Cruciferous vegetables and sulforaphane
Good food; extract pills had only modest PSA effects in a small trial.
What studies found
Diets high in broccoli, cabbage and kale are linked to lower prostate cancer risk. In a trial of 20 men with rising PSA after treatment, sulforaphane extract for 20 weeks missed its main goal, though PSA doubling time lengthened from 6.1 to 9.6 months.
The catch
No placebo group in that trial; PSA kinetics are a stand-in, not survival.
What to do
Eat crucifers often. Treat extracts as experimental.
