Structured exercise after colon cancer
A coached program cut recurrence, new cancer or death by 28%.
What studies found
In the CHALLENGE phase 3 trial (889 patients), a three-year exercise program after chemotherapy raised 5-year disease-free survival to 80% from 74% and 8-year overall survival to 90% from 83%.
The catch
Tested in stage II–III colon cancer survivors well enough to exercise.
What to do
Ask your team for an exercise referral after treatment and build up steadily.
