How sure
Rung 1 · UnprovenLab or animal data only, or never directly tested in people.

The rung shows how sure the science is, not how big the effect is. How to read these ratings

Cancers affected

None proven specifically

What the evidence shows

Berries slow cancer cells in lab and animal studies, and some small human studies saw changes in precancerous lesions. No human study has shown berries themselves prevent cancer; they count toward fruit intake, which as a whole probably helps.

What to do

A great fruit choice. Count them as fruit, not as medicine.
